Help editing iTunes song info?

Ok, so it seems I can't find any help forums concerning this problem. When I try to put in the artist name of a song after I rip it off a mix CD, such as BEAST, it automatically types in Beastie Boys. If I delete the Beastie Boys suggestion and try to type it in letter by letter, even tried it with caps lock on, it still suggests it. What the hell? How do I fix this? The suggestions feature is nice sometimes, especially when the artist name is long or complicated, but it is oftentimes annoying. How do I edit my song info the way I want it to be, not how iTunes wants it to be?
